en couleurs pastel

Today was gray. Or well, maybe not entirely gray, but certainly pastel-coloured.

icons, part 5: Peaches Geldof

Peaches Geldof (whose only noteable prestation is being the daughter of Bob Geldof, but well, that's the socialite life) has a completely fabulous style. It consists of lots of layers, vintage mixed with designer, and it's very girly and sweet but with a tomboyish edge.

icons, part 4: Audrey Hepburn

Ah, La Hepburn. The icon of icons, she is. Never has there been a person in history whose style was copied, loved and adored so much as hers. Even the toughest fashion critics must admit: there has never been and will never be a person as stylish as Audrey (who is,  furthermore, half-Dutch, which makes her even more perfect). She's the ultimate chic. However, she's probably not an easy style icon, because of the stiffness of her outfits.

The characteristic items in her style are the black-and-white, the pearl necklace, the black dress and the updo (with or without bangs), and, of course, black eyeliner and RayBan Wayfarer sunglasses.

icons, part 3: Dita Von Teese

A completely different icon than the previous ones, is Dita Von Teese. Whereas Clémence and BB look effortlessly beautiful, Dita is more of a statue than a woman. She's always perfect; there's not a flaw in her make up, her clothes are always perfectly in style, she never wobbles on her (high, high) heels, and it's a miracle that she can still breathe with those corsets.
Dita Von Teese is the ultimate 50s pinup, except for the fact that she was born fifty years too late.

You can recognize her style by:
- The tiny waist (with a little help from a corset)
- The red lips in combination with black curls and a very white skin
- The retro-glam 1950's look
- The dramatic colours

icons, part 2: Clémence Poésy

Clémence Poésy, best known for her role as the pretty Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is Paris' newest style icon. She likes to mix vintage with designer clothes (such as Balenciaga and Chloé - she even modeled for the latter's perfume), she's very classic but at the same time looks effortless, and she's very, very French. Her style's not about the quantity, but the quality of the clothes; she'd rather wear one beautiful piece than throwing a lot of undefined stuff on top of each other.

icons, part 1: Brigitte Bardot

Brigitte Bardot is considered one of the greatest sex symbols of the 1950s and 1960s. Her style is somewhat of a pinup-style, but in an rebellious, wild way that was very new and very controversial back then. She has a way of sexifying the most scruffy and masculine clothes.

The things that define her style are:
- Massive eye liner
- Black-and-white stripes
- Button-up dresses
- Mass of butter-blonde hair
- Sunglasses
- Men's shirts worn as dresses

I need an icon

This whole winter, I worshipped Blair Waldorf. "What would Blair do?" became my favourite mantra during shopping, I copied literally everything off her. But it's not winter anymore. And Blair is very winter-ish. So I need a new style icon.

The picking of an icon is not something you do randomly. You really, really have to believe that this person has exactly the style that you're craving. It's like a religion. So instead of just picking someone I think dresses nicely, I´m going to thoroughly think this through.

Blair Waldorf, my ex-icon:
